We had intended to publish our new market study in June but the market turned around almost completely (in a downward direction unfortunately). Some countries, such as Spain and Denmark in particular, saw a major collapse. Raw material and energy prices (especially oil) also seemed to be heading in only one direction.

At the ISH 2009 Uponor has introduced the new generation of the multi layer composite pipe system for tap water installation and radiator heating. The important innovation of the system for the outer dimensions from 14 up to 32 mm: No more calibration and bevelling is needed. For the plumber that means less tools and to save one entire working step which leads to a time reduction of about 30% for the press connection. After cutting, the pipe can immediately be inserted into the fitting and afterwards has only to be pressed with the respective tool. The further advantages of the innovative system are still valid.

The multilayer pipe PE-Xb/AL/PE-Xb, called MULTIPLEX is manufactured and distributed by Industrial Blansol S.A. The composite tubes are used for drinking water installations. The DVGW type examination certificate has the registration number: DW-8231BU0089. The date of expiry is the 10th of March, 2014.

The Maintools GmbH & Co. KG, Schweinfurt, subsidiary company of the MAINCOR AG is pleased about an order of a 5 layer Alu-PE-Xb multi-layer composite pipe extrusion line. The deal has been closed during the exhibition “PLAST ‘09″ in Milano.

It is manufactured according to specifications dictated by UNI 10954-1 “Metallo-plastic multiplayer piping systems for hot and cold water” standard, certified by the Italian Institute of Plastics (IIP). SESTA Multi-layer tubing consists of a combination of Metal-plastic layers of (PE-Xb/Al/PE-Xb) which are able to combine the advantages of cross-linked Polyethylene (plastic) with the toughness of aluminium, giving results which go beyond the simple sum of its parts.
