Aleris Rolled Products Europe announced a price increase of 3% on the total conversion price of coil and sheet delivered to the Specialty Product segments of Multi Layer Tubing and 5005 Anodized & Anodizing Quality. The price increase is in response to increased costs for energy, transport, materials and other items and is effective for all new orders and contracts booked on or after July 1, 2008, that are not covered by existing contractual agreements. Ape Raccorderie srl, an Italian manufacturer specialized in production of brass fittings for copper, pex and pex/al/pex pipe, starts in July 2008 its own production of pex/al/pex pipe.

A new range of hose from offshore oil specialist Kutting has a lining made from Victrex PEEK in a proprietary design that takes advantage of the polymer’s high mechanical properties, and maximises chemical, thermal and permeation resistance. The permeability of Victrex PEEK to hot gases and liquids, including hot methanol, is an estimated 100 times lower than existing polymer hose materials and has a 260 degC continuous use temperature.

The approval of multi-layer pipes for use in gas installations in Italy is currently still somewhat “unclear”. Contributing factors here are both the “normative Kraft des Faktischen” (an acceptance of the reality of the situation), identified by Winfried Hamich, and the efforts of the European Union to harmonise standards and regulations in a united Europe – and at the same time take account of national idiosyncrasies, for which appropriate provision must then be made … (more…)
Modern underfloor heating systems, such as the IDEAL EPS system from Jupiter Heizsysteme GmbH, deliver heat to the surface in a very short time, eliminating the need for a long warming up period and the cost of keeping the heating on when there is no one in the house. EPS heating panels, which are pressure stable and provide thermal insulation, form the basis of this intelligent surface heating system. The aluminium heat diffusion plates bonded to the top of the heating panels in the factory ensure rapid and even heat distribution over the surface. Pre-formed pipe channels make it easy to install the multi-layer pipes and their omega shape holds them permanently in position, at the same time providing an ideal casing for the heating pipes.
