The multilayer pipe is convincing Uponor in Zella-Mehlis exceeds 500 million meter mark
With the turn of the year 2008, multilayer pipe production at the Uponor location in Zella-Mehlis exceeded the 500 million meter mark. With the investment in a new product line in the middle of last year, the company increased its capacities in order to meet the high demand for the leading material in drinking water installations in Germany. In 2007 KWD predicted market leadership in the drinking water installation segment in Germany for multilayer pipes vs. copper. According to latest projections, the winning margin of plastic vs. copper was over 5% for the previous year.
The multilayer pipe, together with additional plastic pipe types, like PE-X pipe, strongly increased especially since 2006 in the connection of radiators.
